Measure Length of Objects - 1st Grade Math
Measure the length of objects in terms of a smaller object by laying copies of the smaller object side by side. Use an inch marker to measure lengths in inches. Measuring using inch markers acts as building blocks for measuring with standard tools like a measurement scale (ruler) in the higher grades.
Common Core Alignment
1.MD.2Express the length of an object as a whole number of length units, by laying multiple copies of a shorter object (the length unit) end to end; understand that the length measurement of an object is the number of same-size length units that span it with no gaps or overlaps.
