Multiplication as Repeated Addition- 3rd Grade Math
Relation of multiplication to repeated addition, i.e. multiplying a x b is the same as adding b repeatedly a number of times. Given equal groups of objects (arranged in arrays), students write addition and multiplication equations for the total number of objects. For example, for objects arranged in 4 rows and 5 columns (20 in all); 5 + 5 + 5 + 5 and 4 x 5 represents the total number of objects.
Common Core Alignment
