The purpose of this lesson plan is to help students understand and remember the multiplication facts of numbers 7 and 9 by utilizing properties such as commutative property and distributive property.
Students will use the commutative property to find the first five facts of both numbers. They will discover that changing the order of factors does not change their product.
Students will break down numbers into smaller parts, such as breaking down number seven into five plus two, or number nine into ten minus one. By applying the distributive property, they will derive additional multiplication facts.
